Supported by Local Health Advocates

Our parent group comes from diverse backgrounds but shares one clear goal: improving the health and wellbeing of all McAllen ISD students. Among us are physicians and healthcare professionals who witness firsthand how school food and policy decisions can shape children’s long-term health outcomes. Grounded in both clinical expertise and personal commitment as parents, some have also worked beyond their professions to educate McAllen ISD students and families about healthier living.

Parent Highlight: Live Better RGV

Our movement is strengthened by community leaders like Dr. Ken McCleary, McAllen ISD parent, physical therapist, and founder of Live Better RGV.

Through initiatives like Drink Less Sugar and Healthy Food 4 Kids, Dr. McCleary has helped distribute fresh produce to Valley students and educate families on nutrition and lifestyle health.
